Blackburn On Historic High Gas Prices In Middle TennesseeDemocrat Politics Mean Pain At The Pump
"It will cost Tennessee families over $500 more to fill up their car this year than it did last year. That would have been a few family trips to the grocery store, if energy prices hadn't also driven up the cost of food. Middle Tennessee families are paying more at the pump than they ever have before and as a result they find that they have too much month left at the end of their money.
According to statistics compiled by AAA, the price for a regular gallon of gasoline in Nashville reached $3.153 yesterday, the highest price ever recorded. Congressman Marsha Blackburn (R-TN) made the following remark in reaction to the news: "It will cost Tennessee families over $500 more to fill up their car this year than it did last year. That would have been a few family trips to the grocery store, if energy prices hadn't also driven up the cost of food. Middle Tennessee families are paying more at the pump than they ever have before and as a result they find that they have too much month left at the end of their money. The cost of a barrel of oil is nearly twice what it was when Speaker Pelosi took over. This is precisely the wrong time for Democrats to propose tax hikes for energy companies and more tax hikes for Tennesseans."
