Rep. Marsha Blackburn (R-TN) made the following remarks after the House Democrat Majority passed a multi-billion dollar tax hike bill that will make home-grown energy more expensive.

"It costs a typical mom in Tennessee's 7th District $47 to fill up her tank each week. That is $528 more than it cost her last year. I voted against this bill because it will add to the burden at the pump, not relieve it. Once again, Democrats have demonstrated a gift for making expensive energy more expensive and a hesitancy to take action to provide short term relief to our consumers."

Today's vote to raise taxes by as much as $21 billion a year on certain producers of energy was the fourth such vote that the House has taken on similar plans.
