Congressman Marsha Blackburn (R-TN) issued the following statement in response to the executive actions announced by President Obama that would restrict 2nd Amendment rights for law-abiding Americans.
“This is another public relations stunt from President Obama that is only aimed at satisfying his desire to go down in history as a liberal icon. These executive actions represent another assault on the Constitution by this President,” Blackburn said.

“Instead of trampling on the 2nd Amendment rights of law-abiding Americans, President Obama should be focused on coming up with a strategy to deal with the biggest threat facing our nation right now – the terrorist threat posed by radical Islamic extremists.
“Despite already having his executive amnesty ruled unconstitutional by two courts, this President continues to treat the law as a suggestion. The American people won’t stand for it. Congress has previously debated and rejected the left’s gun control agenda. We should immediately move to defund this executive overreach and withhold funds from the Department of Justice until the President removes the order.”
