Congressman Marsha Blackburn (R-TN) today issued the following statement on House passage of a Continuing Resolution that defunds Obamacare while keeping the government running until December 15, 2013.
“We are hearing stories every day from families and businesses about the negative impact Obamacare is having on their lives. It is becoming increasingly clear that this law is unworkable and must be eliminated. That’s why in addition to voting to defund Obamacare I am also leading the effort in Congress to delay Obamacare with my legislation H.R. 2809. Obamacare is unsustainable and Congress must do everything within its power to delay, defund, repeal and replace the law before it’s implemented. By approving this Continuing Resolution today, we have taken another important step in our fight to protect the American people from the broken promises of President Obama's health care law.
“This CR not only fulfills our responsibilities to the American people and ensures that our men and women in uniform continue to receive a paycheck, but it also starves Obamacare of the funds needed for implementation. This law is a train wreck and I will continue to work with my colleagues to do everything possible to get Obamacare off the books.
“The House has done its job and carried out the will of the American people. Now it's time for the Senate to do the same by voting to defund this disastrous law.”
