Congressman Marsha Blackburn (R-TN) today issued the following statement in support of H.R. 2879, the Stop Government Abuse Act, which was approved by the House of Representatives:

“The excessive regulations being piled on to American small businesses and the hard-working taxpayers by this administration are stifling job creation, limiting opportunities, and restricting our constitutional rights. That’s why I have spent my career in Congress fighting to stop government abuse and to empower the American people.

“It is clear that we cannot trust federal agencies to use their power to create regulation responsibly. The tentacles of unnecessary and unwanted federal regulation are putting America in a stranglehold. Each new rule created by unelected bureaucrats squeezes more life out of our economy.

“That’s why we are taking action to rein in out-of-control bureaucrats in Washington, restrain a runaway federal government and put in place policies that empower the American people to greater freedom. Americans want a strong economy and a more secure future that affords them expanded opportunities.”
