Blackburn Statement On Failure Of Super Committee To Reach Deal On Spending Cuts
Congressman Marsha Blackburn (TN-7) issued the following statement on the Congressional Super Committee's failure to reach agreement on spending cuts.
“I regret that the Super Committee has failed in its duty to reach agreement on spending cuts to reduce our deficit. The American people are sick and tired of the empty promises coming from Washington, and it is extremely disappointing that President Obama and the Democrats in Washington still don't get it. We need real solutions to get our nation's economy back on track. I have proposed legislation that would provide tangible savings to the hard-working taxpayers, such as my spending freeze bill that would save $27 billion over two years and my bills to cut spending across-the-board by 5, 10, and 15 percent, while still maintaining a strong national defense. Just as I have over my entire career, I will continue to push forward with ways to stop the out-of-control spending and reduce our debt."
