WASHINGTON- Congressman Marsha Blackburn (TN-7) will join the Tennessee delegation in a letter supporting Governor Bredesen's request to President Obama for disaster assistance. Blackburn, who represents many of the areas in West and Middle Tennessee that sustained heavy damage over the weekend, said:

"Tennesseans have come through a harrowing weekend. As the waters recede and the cleanup begins, I know that Tennessee's volunteer spirit will bring out the best in so many devastated communities. We have weathered storms before and we will do so again. As I join with my neighbors across the state to begin the recovery, I want the residents of 7th District to know that my team and I stand ready to assist them however we can."

Blackburn met with officials in flooded areas of Shelby County before returning to Williamson county yesterday. As she continues to assess damage in Middle Tennessee, Congressman Blackburn is in close touch with local officials in Middle and West Tennessee.
